Snackable Bakes, a New York Times Best Cookbook of 2022, gets a salty remix with easy-peasy crackers, quick breads, hand-pies, and more.
Jessie Sheehan’s lickety-split recipes, dynamic personality, and kitchen savvy advice have made her a beloved food personality on social media. In Salty, Cheesy, Herby, Crispy, she relies on the same assemble-in-minutes-with-everyday-ingredients mandate that has become her calling card, but now ventures into new flavor territory. Eschewing marshmallow creme in favor of pimiento cheese, Sheehan bakes up scrumptious, savory treats that are perfect for a snack board (“girl dinner,” anyone?), offer sustenance for game night, and can easily stand in for lunch or grace the table at brunch. Think Hot Pepper Jelly and Cream Cheese Stuffed Muffins, Smash Burger Hand Pies with Cheese, Pepperoni Pizza Galette with Ricotta, or some Butter Crackers with Melty Cheese and Sour Pickles. With classic snackable style, Sheehan also provides a few “shortcut” staples, like Magic Melted Butter Pie Dough and Quickest (yet Tastiest) Caramelized Onions. Fun, playful, and exceptionally delicious recipes, accompanied by gorgeous photographs, make this a must-have book for 2024 and beyond.

All the Cravable Snacks You Dream Of, and More
I adore Jessie Sheehanâs first book, Snackable Bakes, so I knew I would need this book too. What I love about her recipes is that they are thoughtful, creative, and consistently reliable. She pairs ingredients together in ways that make so much sense like the Cheeziest Biscotti, or apple cheddar muffins. Or she puts new spins on savory profiles like the Cocktail Hour Loaf which has pimiento-stuffed olives and Swiss for dirty martini vibes! The book has muffins, breads, hand pies, crackers, and all sorts of small bites. It will probably become my go-to book for party snacks in addition to satisfying my salty, cheesy cravings! Oh, and did I mention how easy the recipes are!I also love her writing style. Her enthusiasm really shines through which brings more joy to the baking process. This book is about to become a staple and I couldnât be happier about it!

Fun, easy to follow recipes
I usually rely on digital recipes that I add to my recipe app;still, I found browsing through this hard cover cookbook a nice change. I have made 3-4 of the recipes and found them easy to follow (though I did find an error in one). The three things I like the most are 1) the cookbook lays open, mostly flat, when using it 2) the chapter titled “the essential savory hacks” with six recipes for components used in many of the recipe throughout the book is a terrific feature 3) the descriptions & photos of each recipe are both entertaining and helpful.Though the author has a recipe website, I searched for a few of the recipes found in this cookbook on that site and didn’t find them, so at least for now, most of the recipes seem to be only available in this publication.Overall, I have enjoyed using this cookbook and give it 4* (I Like It).

Another amazing cookbook!
Having baked nearly all the recipes from her snackable bakes cookbook, I just received her latest and have already started enjoying how easy and delicious the savory snackables are, too! These recipes are never-fail and highly loved and consumed by my family and friends! ð

A Collection Of 100 Savory Recipes That Are Easy To Make, Delicious, And Visually Stunning!
Salty, Cheesy, Herby, Crispy Snackable Bakes by Jessie Sheehan is a collection of 100 savory recipes that are easy to follow with delicious results. The book features the following chapters:IntroductionSavory Muffins and Biscuits and Scones – Oh MyThe Sliceables (aka Savory Loaves and Snacking “Breads”)Toasty HandheldsBrunchables, Lunchables, and Even DinnerablesBread You Need…But Don’t Knead (Hee Hee Hee)Savory Cookies and Easy CrackersAll Day I Dream About SnacksThe Essential Savory HacksAcknowledgementsIndexPrior to each recipe’s ingredients list, the author thoughtfully included how much each recipe will make, the active time, and the baking time. This makes planning and expectation so much easier especially when you want to bake up something special for your family during the week. The recipes do not require special equipment which is helpful. The ingredients are easy to find in your kitchen or at your local supermarket. The recipes are clearly written and are easy to understand and follow. Every recipe is accompanied with a corresponding photo so you know what the finished product looks like. There are a handful of photos that include the author about to or eating the finished product including the Ricotta and Onion “Puff” Tarts, Smash(ing) Burger Hand Pies With Cheese, and Easy “Western” Spoonbread. I have made two recipes so far. I’ve made the Gluten-Free Cheese Buns (aka Pao De Queijo) and the Olive Oil and Black Pepper Popovers. The recipes were easy to follow and the finished results were delicious and visually stunning. My family loved the Gluten-Free Cheese Buns so much that we made another batch the following day! The buns were rich, cheesy, and had a delightful chewy texture that reminded us of mochi. The popovers were an absolute winner – they were light and crisp with a tender, eggy center. I used a large popover tray so it made 6 popovers. This was the first time that I had such amazing results when making popovers! They rose so high that it looked like the ones we enjoy at a local restaurant. I love that there are recipes for appetizers, breads that can accompany meals, and also dishes that can be enjoyed as a meal including quiches, savory bread puddings, stratas, and baked mac and cheese bites. I appreciate that there are also a few recipes that feature taking a store bought item and upgrading it. This includes Miso Garlic Butter Party Mix, Fire Crackers, and Dolly’s Melted Cheese Squares with Chili Crisp. Author Jessie Sheehan included recipes that are comforting, filling, and visually impressive but do not require a lot of time or effort. I am looking forward to the upcoming holiday season as I know I will be making a lot of the recipes for gatherings with family and friends. This book has gotten a lot of use in our home thus far and I know that it will be a go to book for me. I plan to purchase additional copies to give as gifts for my loved ones. I am so excited by the success I’ve had with this book that I am inspired to look for additional books written by Ms. Sheehan. I highly recommend that you add this book to your Amazon cart!

You need this new book!I love Jessieâs books. Her previous book Snackable Bakes was a revelation of delicious and easy baked goods and this new book does the same for more savoury treats. Iâve bookmarked nearly every recipe from this book and I only received it yesterday on her pub day as I had pre-ordered it. Iâve already made the savoury granola (perfection and I canât stop snacking on it) and the feta and spinach hand pies which has the most incredible pastry crust made with hot milk and melted butter and results in pastry you can knead and handle over and over and still results in buttery and flaky crust. My whole family went nuts for these band pies and my picky 9 year old commented they are similar to his favourite scones (which happen to be from Jessieâs Snackable Bakes âcream sconesâ)I plan on baking my way through this book and am so excited. I also plan on buying a few copies to give out as gifts to friends.
