Fun Barbie Movie, Check DVD for Scratches
My 8 and 3 year old girls adore Barbie movies, and I enjoy watching them too. The storylines are usually interesting and Barbie is a good role model, so I don’t mind watching them over and over. This one is one of the older movies and has Barbie as an actress who gets fired from her movie and dumped by Ken the same day in the first 10 minutes. Wasn’t too fond of that part because the movie starts off negative, but it got better. Barbie is upset and decides to go visit her aunt who owns a clothing line boutique in Paris. When she gets there, she finds that her aunt has sold the store due to lack of business and they only have a few days left. Barbie can’t accept this and she and her aunt’s apprentice design clothes and unlock some glitter fairies that make these clothes just wow. They end up putting on a fashion show and saving the boutique. And Ken apparently hadn’t broken up with her via phone, it was Raquelle playing a trick, so he sets off after Barbie. He acts a bit desperate and pathetic, but it all ends happily. Overall, a great movie and now my daughter is interested in sketching fashion.One thing I will caution you on is you need to check the DVD for scratches when it arrives and make sure it plays. Literally every Barbie movie I’ve purchased lately is loose in the case – it’s always off the prongs rattling around even though it’s sealed. I checked it to make sure it played before I gave it to the girls just in case.

My 4 year old daughter LOVES this movie!!
I have read the poor reviews on here, and I do not have any other Barbie movies to compare this to, but since the day it was on TV my 4 year old daughter has been obsessed!! Now the poor reviews say that this is geared toward older kids, but seriously dont most ALL movies these days, fairytales and others have things that an adult could find inappropriate for most young children!! I dont think my 4 year old cared about the getting fired from jobs and boyfriend breakups, etc. What she did love was the Flaries, the puppies, the fun dresses, Barbie, Marie Alecia, and even Aunt Millicent!! She got all the dolls for Christmas and loves them!! I personally also liked the movie! And would recommend it to those parents who wouldnt read too much into the some parts of the storyline! 🙂

My 5 year old loves it!
I was hesitant getting this movie for my 5 year old daughter for Christmas after reading the negative reviews but she really wanted it so I did regardless. She was so excited to get it, watched it immediately and then announced that it was ‘the best movie ever!’ Her favorite part was the wedding! I did watch bits and pieces with her and none of the subject matter struck me as too mature. It was all very typical of Barbie. Very glittery, fancy and fun. We give it 2 thumbs up!

I never ever thought I would be writing a review raving about a Barbie film….but to my surprise my four year old and I much prefer these films to the Disney mush with the predictable baddies and swooning princesses. These films are not about Barbies size 0 frocks or long blonde locks but circle around the importance of being strong, fair, a good friend, adventurous etc The bold colourful graphics and kicking sound track complete the feel good factoryu88i. This was our favourite Barbie movie but there isn’t one we haven’t enjoyed…unlike Disney my 3 year old son enjoys them too and dosn’t hide behind the sofa.

Well at least my two daughters love Barbie movies but lets face it they are for the kids! Hubby and I always exit the room as the Dvd is loading!! Barbies voice, the singing Oh my the singing! and the get on your nerves music combined with the same story lines re engineered would send us nuts! Maybe we are an exception to the rule but my girls love them and it does keep them still and quiet so I had to give 5 stars just for the peaceful hour or so!! Actually I think Id give 10!!
