Fantastic Musical Talent
Barbara Cook is one of the most talented artists in the music world. Her longevity proves what a fantastic voice she has. How many people make it to Broadway, are know internationally, perform in Madison Square Garden and can teach at Julliard? More importantly, how many are able to sing beautifully until they are eighty years old? Certainly not Frank Sinatra and dozens like him. Time and genes have been kind to Ms. Cook. Other artists in her field greatly admire her.

No production info included
Barbara Cook has long been one of my favorites and I was thrilled when I discovered this DVD. But when it came I was shocked that there is absolutely no info inside — nothing about when it was filmed, the idea behind it (though I was aware of that). Nothing but one sheet picturing some of Miss Cook’s CDs. Very disappointing. But the performance is spectacular, as usual.

This was wonderful. I shall watch Barbara Cook again and again.

problem with product
I rec’d the c.d. and it would not play on any of my systems both at home and in car.a total disappointment, and if the process for returning it had not been so laborious, and unnecessarily complicated, I would have done so. I will not ordermusic from you again.

Perfectly in all respects
Perfectly wonderful, both in presentation and songs. Barbara continues to demonstrate her stardom, which characterized her career. Her passing will be forever mourned.

I have seen the lady perform in person, and this lived up to what I had remembered.
The Sondhiem music was wonderful. What a great voice and presentation of some great music.every Sondheim fan should own this one.

Mostly But Not Enough Sondheim
I knew in advance that this concert wasn’t ALL Sondheim. The program consists of songs he wrote and songs he supposedly wishes he’d written. (There are one or two that I wish he’d written, too!) For me, the balance is way off. Out of 23 titles, 11 are by other writers. I personally would have preferred more Sondheim and less things he wishes he’d written. As for Ms. Cook’s performance, it was impeccable, as always. I knew Barbara back in the late 70s (and even got drunk with her once, but that’s another story) and she has always been, since I first played the cast album of SHE LOVES ME, one of my all-time favorite Broadway-style singers. I knew Wally, too. It broke my heart to see how he looked during this concert. According to his obituary, he was only 62 when he died. He looked 15 years older than that.I also must complain about the video direction of this program. There are far too many shots of her adoring audience. I would imagine part of the reason for this is that it pretty much guarantees a few dozen extra sales. I know if I had been in the audience of a show and discovered I’d been caught by a roaming camera (provided I wasn’t sitting with someone I could get in trouble over), I’d buy the DVD immediately! All this carping aside, Ms. Cook is absolutely wonderful. She is and always has been an absolute delight, a nation treasure, if you will, and I hope she lives forever!

In fine form
For those of who love Ms Cook, will undoubtedly love this DVD.Although filmed live in concert several years ago, it has not lost its charm and appeal.
Mr A Dommett –
I am a huge Barbara Cook fan and have seen many of her live performances. I purchased this item in the hope it may bring back a little of the magic now that Ms. Cook is no longer with us; this recording delivers it in spades. This is spellbinding. There is the added bonus of a rarely seen short interview with the star as well as a Barbara Cook masterclass. If you are a big fan or just discovering Barbara Cook’s work I can’t recommend this highly enough. I even love the chatty bits between numbers, demonstrating what a warm and engaging personality she had and what an interesting life she led

This was not one of her better stage performances.
Mr. antony howard –
The wonderful Barbara Cook in concert performing [ mostly ] a programme of songs by Stephen Sondheim .Barbara has the capacity to invest every song she sings with the kernel of the composer’s intention. There is no more superb interpreter of lyric song anywhere and hsn’t been since Barbara first came on to the concert scene in the 70s after a stunning career on the Broadway stage.

Great choice of songs even if a couple are strange choices! A truly brilliant artiste. A bit puzzled by the criticism of her pianist who is absolutely brilliant and a virtual ”one man Band”
