Flexible Lighting
I got the Cloudy Bay 6 inch Smart WiFi Recessed Lighting to replace my bathroom sinks lights and add light to my shower. The light installation itself wasn’t overly complicated. I had an existing light on the over the sinks that provided the electrical power necessary to wire the lights. I had to move the wiring from the wall to the ceiling, do some drywalling and I had to buy additional Romex wiring to run between the lights. I also had to buy Romex clamps to install on the included electrical boxes for the lights for cable strain relief. I daisychained three of the lights over the mirror and ran a cable over to outside of the shower enclosure. I used wire nuts to connect the wiring instead of the connector blocks they included because I found it easier to daisychain the wiring. I used a 6″ hole saw to cut the holes for the lights, then used a rotary tool to increase the hole to the template size. After installation, setup was simple using the Cloudy Bay app and the Alexa app to enable voice control. I am able to control each light individually or in groups with Alexa. I can also set them to turn on and off automatically at certain times. The white lights are bright at 100% intensity and there are many color choices available. These lights provide the lighting over the bathroom counter we need to fix hair, brush teeth, etc. The different colors add nice ambiance to the area when minimal lighting needed. We use the shower light as a red nightlight. These lights will also flash to music using the app. Overall, I’m very happy with these lights.

Look like regular thin recessed lights, but have smart capability and RGB colors too!
I already have some 6″ recessed lights in my house and wanted to switch some older style can lights to recessed as well, mainly for the look, but also to cut on energy use. These recessed Cloudy Bay lights look just like all my other recessed lights and when I first got them I thought perhaps they shipped me just the plain style, not the RGB smart version. After checking the instructions I realized they were indeed the correct ones.I read the instructions which stated to install the Cloudy Bay app to configure the smart setup, but I already have various other smart devices that use the Tuya Smart app and so I decided to try using that and sure enough, it worked. I’m guessing the Cloudy Bay app might just be a rebranded version with some limited features, but I didn’t even try and test that. The manual even references Tuya IoT Platform in their FAQ section, so I figured it would work.It has all the features you could want…from white light in various temperatures and dimming levels to colors and various modes/scenes you can switch to. It’s very customizable and I think I could even just swap out one of my older different brand lights and you wouldn’t even notice the difference…until I tell Alexa or Google to change the color to red, or enable some crazy party mode.Heck, for a few bucks more you get a smart light with all sort of possibilities, so why not give yourself some lighting options? Even if you don’t use the colors, it’s really handy to just yell out to Alexa or Google to turn on or off the light, or tell it to dim to 30% to be used as a night light. I give it 5 out of 5 stars!

Good CRI. Odd size.
I ordered these to replace some can lights.I wanted a high CRI (95+) and the ability to tweak the color slightly.While these light are a decent quality, they did not meet any of my needs.They are a non standard 6 inch size. I needed goof rings, as recommended by the manufacturer, to close out the oversized holes remaining after removing the can lights. These lights are too large to fit in the goof rings.I wanted to run these as white lights with a hint of red added, but you have to choose between white and colors. You canât run both at the same time. I donât know if that is a limitation of the light or the app. The photos (left) show the recommended app, and the app was hoping to use (right). You can see the limitations of the color selections available. Also, full brightness in any color is around 2.5 watts, much less, and dimmer than the white setting.All things consider, these are a good, medium high CRI, ETL listed (many sold here are not) flush mount light. But not what I was looking for.

Multifunction lights that look good anywhere
Picked these out to replace my recessed can lights downstairs, but changed my mind after seeing them and these are nice rec room lights for sure. The lights are led bright and clean, and they have all of the color changes you could want and then some. The “change colors to music” setting, and the ease of installation kind of talked me into putting these where my kids will enjoy them more. Honestly, they would work anywhere you have the ceiling space for them since you can do so many things with the colors. The orange clips on the sides of the lights work like alligator clips, and these open wide enough to grab onto drywall, drop ceiling tile, or in my case a small railing system by my old cans. Wiring is easy, white-black-green, and then the box joins to the fixture with about 12 inches of wire you screw together so it doesn’t pull apart. The lights themselves are well made, and I’ve no concerns on quality. If one breaks its easily replaced, just unclip the light, uncouple the connection (to the box), then reverse order with the new light. The reason you don’t want to lose the template is that the fit/tolerance around the edge of the light isn’t very far (as in the pic), maybe 1/2 inch, so measure twice, cut once. The app is on google play, and once installed it asked for the router password while it was searching for the lights (lights blinking like crazy in the meantime trying to pair). Super simple from there though, and the app is easy to use and find the different modes. Whatever the light color is when you turn them off will be the color next time you turn them on, so if you will just be using these as ceiling lights in between all of your partying, you probably want to close out the day with a basic warm white. All in all, nice lights and easy to set up and use.
