Beautiful Clock, looks better in person than it does online!
This really is a nice clock. Made mostly of what appears to be real wood, it is very elegant. It seems that they did not skimp anywhere on this time piece! Even the individual 1-12 numerals are individual “gold numerals” and NOT just “printed on a dial”.(Gold color, not real gold I assume) The clock keeps very good time and the batteries last for many months so it is also very efficiently designed. This is my second one (this one is a gift) so I have had the first one for about a year and it is still on the first battery. You can control the volume and you can deactivate the chimes at night if that is your thing. You have 2 different chime sound options. It is very easy to set, just put it to the correct time and it chimes the right amount of times. You don’t need to “synchronize” it or wait at every hour like older clocks (well…I didn’t and it works like clockwork…pun intended). It is a bit of a hassle to turn the hands with the small “gear” in the back but you shouldn’t have to do it but a handful of times over the life of the clock so not such a big deal. The bottom line is: This is a high quality, very expensive looking, wooden clock made my Seiko so you are buying into proven quality and I feel like they delivered. It looks and feels more expensive than it is (IMO). It keeps very good time. It DOES NOT suck the life out of batteries like low quality clocks, it is somewhat flexible in sounds meaning you can choose from 2 different chimes, you have control over volume and you can kill the sound altogether if you choose. If you want something made of wood, built nicely, with the old fashioned sounding Westminster chimes then this is definitely worth the price Amazon is asking.

Beautiful but not fully functioning
It’s a beautiful clock and seems to keep good time, but the pendulum doesn’t work in mine. Specifically, it will swing back and forth but it won’t keep going – it stops after a few minutes. There doesn’t seem to be any indication in the instructions as to how to deal with this. The speaker is tinny sounding, but the controls for the speaker volume and choice of melodies work well.I guess I just got a dud. If you want a beautiful clock – and you get one that works correctly – this is a good choice.UPDATE 7/9/15I figured out what was wrong with my pendulum. After examining the back mechanism for a while, I realized that the black plastic piece has a coil at the bottom that is supposed to be producing a magnetic charge opposite one that should be on the front of the top of the pendulum. There was no magnet on the pendulum, however, and that’s why it would lose momentum. I think it was supposed to ship with a magnet on the black plastic piece at the top of the pendulum. Fortunately, I had some very small, thin magnets with good power that I stuck on there. The pendulum now continues to swing as it was supposed to.So to summarize – if your pendulum doesn’t swing with a new battery in it, put a thin (but fairly strong) magnet on the black plastic piece at the top of the pendulum. If you have the magnet there and it doesn’t swing, change the battery (it powers the coil that creates the opposing charge to push your magnet and pendulum).Since the clock works with a simple fix, I upgraded from three stars to four – not five, though, because it needed that fix.

Elegant
This is the classiest most elegant wall grandfather clock on Amazon! Even the ones that are more expensive donât do it for me like this one does! I want to mention before I forget is that itâs absolutely wonderful that Amazon breaks it down to even interest free payments for a few months to make it even possible for me to purchase this beautiful clock in the first place since I donât qualify for Affirm nor would I want to go that route if I couldâ¦who wants to pay for 18 months and pay almost a $100 in interest at the endâ¦I Wish that Amazon would offer this option on More of their products!!! Now on to the clockâ¦beautiful and accurate! It looks massive and heavyâ¦remember itâs a grandfather clockâ¦The gold in the glasses is gorgeous and the brass! Not only does this clock make my home sound elegant it looks elegantâ¦essentially the very top almost like Coo Coo Clock lookâ¦the wood has a lot of Groves I guess Iâm trying to sayâ¦I could just go on and on and even came with a battery lolâ¦Totally Satisfied!!

Hard to see the face.
It’s a very pretty clock but even sitting close to the clock, it’s really hard to see the face and see what time it is. It’s very reflective of the light and unless we get up and stand in front of it, we can’t read the time. Bummer, it wasn’t cheap.ð

This seiko wall clock was more than I was expecting. It is a solid oak cabinet with a Seiko time piece in the back. Assembly was easy but I found adjustments were hard as it needed taking down off the wall and the volume knob was small. I did know this from reviews I had read. One other thing is it seems to chime slowly. Hmm I think that is normal. But sound is beautiful.

beautiful wood outer .. but i guess clockcraftmanship is dead! all inside and pendulum are made of plastic. tiny flimsy wheels to adjust time and chime volume. i hope they do away with daylight savings time since it doesnt seem like these tiny wheels can take much adjustments before problems will occur. assuming all other clocks in this price range are the same in build-type, it is good value at about half list price. i did all the settings before reading the manual, very easy.UPDATE: at about the 6 month mark, i raise rating from 3 to 4 stars. keeps excellent time!I LIKED THIS CLOCK SO MUCH, I BOUGHT A COMPARABLE BULOVA. THE SEIKO IS 50% HEAVIER (2 KG) … WHICH I BELIEVE IS FROM REAL WOOD WEIGHT. also, this clock comes with its own hanging hardware .. a very nice thing since there is no question of proper hanging device!
